Juventus Player Ratings vs Milan: Bianconeri Thwarted by Sportiello

At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Juventus and Milan locked horns in the most prestigious encounter of the weekend. However, neither side is enjoying a particularly prosperous moment and it certainly showed. The hosts were the best side but were thwarted by Marco Sportiello who was the unexpected hero of the night following Mike Maignan’s injury in the warm-ups. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who settled for a goalless draw against Milan and thus remain five points behind their rivals in the Serie A table.

Juventus (3-5-2)

Wojciech Szczesny – 6

The former Arsenal man didn’t have a single save to make all match. Punched out Milan’s last-gasp corner kick to bring an end to the match.

Federico Gatti – 6

The former Frosinone defender was solid at the back against Leao and Olivier Giroud, but was equally wasteful in possession. Gave away a needless late corner kick to Milan.

Gleison Bremer – 6.5

The Brazilian stood his ground and prevailed in his duel against Giroud and Noah Okafor. A comfortable outing overall.

Danilo – 6.5

The Juventus captain looked confident and robust at the back, and even had some attacking forrays. However, he should have done better on the rebound with the goal at his mercy.

Timothy Weah – 6.5

This was perhaps one of the American’s most impressive performances since joining the club. Matched Leao’s pace as he managed to pull off perfectly-timed interceptions against his foe. He also posed a threat in the final third, but lacked a killer touch.

Andrea Cambiaso – 6

The versatile Italian acted as a box-to-box midfielder for Juventus. Worked hard in the middle of the park, but still needs to improve his shooting.

Manuel Locatelli – 6

The former Sassuolo man was splendid when shielding the backline, winning back possession on countless occasions, but was coy when it came to driving forward.

Adrien Rabiot – 5.5

The Frenchman improved as the match progressed but was struggling to find his feet in the early going, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek muscling him off the ball.

Filip Kostic – 6

An encouraging display from the Serbian winger who delivered decent crosses to the box while also keeping Christian Pulisic in check. Tested Sportiello with a good shot from a surprising angle.

Kenan Yildiz – 5.5

The Turkish teenager showcased flashes of genius, but they were too little too late. Lost the ball in promising positions on several occasions.

Dusan Vlahovic – 6

The former Fiorentina man started on the right foot and threatened to score early on. He made himself involved in almost every Juventus play, but eventually ran out of steam before leaving the pitch at the hour mark.

Federico Chiesa – 6.5

The Bianconeri became more dangerous following the Italian’s introduction, created a host of chances from the flanks, including a couple for Milik.

Arkadiusz Milik – 6

The Pole almost replicated his heroics from Tuesday, but was denied by Sportiello on one occasion, while another header whistled past the post.

Weston McKennie – 6

The American picked up from where Weah had left off, keeping Leao at bay while adding some energy to the Juventus right flank.
